EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

We're seeking an On-Site Night Manager

​

The Night Manager oversees the operations of the house during scheduled hours in the evening and select mornings.  They are responsible to the Cancer Care of NCW board of directors and work collaboratively with the House Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator as needed.
 

We provide a healthcare hospitality house for adult cancer patients to stay at during treatment.  

NO medical care or counseling is offered by staff to guests.


Hours:  28 hours a week 
(Mon: 3pm-9pm; Tues-Thurs: 8am-9am, 3pm-9pm; Fri: 8am-9am)
Compensation: $14.49 an hour and on-site housing (fully furnished 1-bedroom attached apartment and utilities; suitable for 1-2 adults only, no pets or children under 18 allowed).  Access to the house/apartment on weekends and holidays. Personal/renters insurance is the responsibility of the Night Manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Mature, compassionate, caring person with organizational & interpersonal skills

  • Able to deal with work with a variety of groups and work with people who are under stress; responds to guest criticism with a positive approach

  • Personal smartphone; able to respond to text & call requests (guest issues, problems, etc.) during evening off hours as needed   

  • Maintains confidential information; self-motivated, flexible, problem solver

  • Basic computer skills (e-mail, internet, downloading/uploading, etc.)

  • Able to clean and sanitize work environment as per COVID-19 protocols

  • Maintains CPR certification; able to become certified within 60 days of employment

  • Resides in provided on-site apartment (suitable for 1-2 adults only, no pets or children under 18 allowed)

  • Able to communicate fluently in English, verbally and in writing   

  • Non-smoker; able to lift up to 50lbs as needed

  • Attend appropriate training and conferences annually or as needed

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)


Desired Qualifications:

  • One-year work experience in a healthcare or office setting

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • Small non-profit experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle evening emergencies or crisis situations involving the guests or visitors as they arise

  • Assist guests with non-medical needs i.e showing how to operate kitchen equipment

  • Be available to socialize with guests in the evening

  • Able to sit, stand, and use stairs

  • Enforce and uphold all house rules and policies

  • Be responsible for minor maintenance and upkeep such as changing light bulbs, replacing batteries, emptying the trash, etc

  • Water indoor plants and tidy the common spaces as needed

  • Answer phone in the evening

  • Turn the dishwasher on as needed. Empty dishwasher in the morning

  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the Night Manager apartment

  • Assist in maintaining the general order and cleanliness of the house

  • Secure the house at night. Make sure guests understand late entry protocols 

  • Have contact with volunteers, residents, and the House Coordinator for problem-solving and updates daily

  • Communicate the need for updating or remodeling projects to the board

  • Secure the house if leaving for the weekend

  • Other duties as assigned
